“Local government impacts the daily lives of its residents more than any other level of government… We need an individual with proven managerial experience, leadership skills, character, integrity, and who makes decisions based on facts, not emotions. Shannon is that person.”

“Shannon grew up in La Mesa, and has been a resident with her husband and children since 1990. She’s a retired college professor and dean who is actively involved in her community. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her on numerous community and regional projects”, he continued.

“The quality of life La Mesa residents enjoy is because the majority of the current council members work as a team. It’s imperative that we elect a council member who places the needs of our residents above their own political agenda, understands the fiscal responsibilities and economic challenges local governments face, and is willing to listen to all parties before making a decision. Shannon possesses those traits and skills”, he stated.

In conclusion, the Mayor said, “Shannon’s work in the private sector as a geotechnical professional, her responsible management of public funds, decades of leadership experience and proven decision making abilities, all make her the ideal candidate for city council. That’s why I am enthusiastically endorsing her.”

La Mesa-Spring Valley School Board member Penny Halgren joined the press conference and endorsed Shannon, noting that she especially values Shannon’s fairness and vision in decision-making. “Shannon approaches each decision carefully, and takes into consideration what is right for the specific issue, and also what is right for the whole community.”

Bob Duggan, long-time member of the La Mesa Planning Commission, offered his support of Shannon’s candidacy, and voiced his confidence in her community focus, and leadership skills.
